What you need to know Explorers/Young Leaders:
Every third weekend of the month is a WEST weekend at Waddecar. Any West Lancs Scouts aged 14-18 can sign up. Come with your unit or sign up individually and meet up with other Explorers. The weekends are free of charge, in exchange for a bit of graft, but if you bring £3 then we will provide breakfast and lunch for you.
WEST weekends can count towards the Environmental section of the Chief Scouts Platinum & Diamond Awards. Our team will help you to achieve your Activity Centre Service Badge over a few weekends.
What you will be doing:
Projects are usually environmental and maintenance work around the centre and there is no escaping the fact the toilets need to be cleaned too. However, you could find yourself helping to take a booking, leading some campfire songs or preparing an Activity for some Scouts.
What you need to know: Leaders
Bolster your programme with a WEST weekend at Waddecar. Just pick a weekend or two and book on. We generally expect young people to be self-sufficient, but Leaders are welcome to come along too.
We have an experienced team of Wardens and Crew who will be working along-side the Explorers and keeping an eye out for them. However, a big part of the experience is that the WEST teams are given responsibility and independence. You will need to ensure that they have a correctly completed Nights Away passport for the weekend. If in doubt, check with your DESComm.
How to book on:
Call or email us at Waddecar with which date you want to come, the names of the people attending and the name of the Leader who will be issuing the Event Passport.
