If you’re enthusiastic about scouting in West Lancashire we want to hear from you!! You should start to see more and more opportunities of how you can be involved in shaping scouting in our county.
Here’s some examples of how you can get involved for now. Please keep checking back regularly and engage via social media to ensure you don’t miss out on opportunities to get involved.
District Explorer Forums
As an Explorer Scout you should have the opportunity to shaped scouting at all levels. We do this through forums and hope that every Explorer Unit has a Unit Forum, as well as at least one representative on your District Explorer Forum. This is a way that what you do in your Unit can be shared with other Units in your District. Get in touch to find out if your District has a forum that you can be involved with!
County Explorer Forum
Each district should have representatives on the County Forum.
Meeting on the second Tuesday of every month, the County Forum is a place where the County programme is shaped and determined, where events are planned and run and where explorers from across West Lancashire can share ideas from their district and take others back to share with District Forums and then Units. You can also find out about events and other exciting opportunities to be involved with scouting in our county!
We are always looking for Explorer Scouts to volunteer to help out on County events! As part of the explorer team, you would be
- Running activities for young people
- Promoting Explorers to them!
- Helping hear the views of as many young people as possible during the weekend!
It will be great fun and is a great way of meeting lots of Explorers just like you from around West Lancs; please get in touch with Lightning Lee at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to be involved or would like more details!
Take the lead is a great event run every year for Explorer Scouts in. The aim is to give explorers the skills needed to plan and run a successful scouting event! Towards the end of the weekend Explorers from each District planned a new event for their District, and then presented their plans to their District Explorer Scout Commissioner. It is great to see these events come off after the weekend! If you’re interested in taking part in a future event, please get in touch.
