Trustee Application Form

The closing date for applications is Sunday 31st July 2017.

There are five meetings per year, on a Thursday Evening in Preston and you would be expected to attend every meeting if possible.

We know you’ve got the skills, here’s why you should apply!

It will add a sparkle to your CV

You’ll have responsibility, transferable skills and the confidence to speak up in any situation. Where else can you get that?

It will give you the chance to have your voice heard

You’ll take part in discussions on key issues in Scouting in West Lancs and help to shape the experience for other young people, as well as getting to talk about all the other things you’re passionate about as a young person in Scouting.

You’ll meet interesting people from all over the county

Over The Uk

And you can compare notes on how things work in each other’s districts and groups and in different County roles.

You’ll have more responsibility than you thought

There’s nowhere else where you could have as much influence as you can here, and you’ll find a number of doors opened to you in your role as Trustee.

You’ll gain transferable skills

Public Speaking Eym

Public speaking, strategic thinking, confidence, time management and organisational skills are all key skills for successful careers which can be developed through your role on the County Executive.

BUT….. REMEMBER..

Some meetings do overrun- they are usually at least two hours, and occasionally more.

You’ll have to be interested in strategy and decision making- sometimes things aren’t discussed in the small detail; that’s done by another committee and the exec makes decisions based upon their work.

You might not be interested in every item on the agenda. What is important to remember is that you’ll be making decisions as one of less than twenty trustees which affect over 13,000 members!

If you have any questions or queries, please email Ollie Wood, County Youth Commissioner at ollie.wood@westlancsscouts.org.uk or phone 07901 333874 for an informal chat.
