Following approval by the County Executive, charity best practice, and adoption at our last AGM, we have a new method of electing Members to the Executive at our AGM. The next Annual General Meeting is once again taking place at South Ribble Civic Centre on Thursday 12th September.

All Members of West Lancashire County Scouts are eligible to nominate a representative for election to the Board of Trustees (County Executive Committee).

NOMINATIONS FOR ELECTION TO THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Deadline: Sunday 11th August 2019

HOW TO NOMINATE A CANDIDATE

All Members of West Lancashire Scouts are encouraged to nominate candidates and assist in reaching a wide pool of good applicants. A recent skills audit of Executive Members identified that the Executive Committee would especially benefit from the following areas of experience and demographics.

Experience Skills/knowledge
Scouting Experience Strategy Development
Adventurous activity oversight Safety
Estate management Safeguarding
External relations Human Resources & Staff Development
Schools and education Fundraising
Community engagement Line Management
Finance
Risk Management
Data Protection
Law

Additional to the skills and experience above we actively encourage applications / nominations from the whole range of backgrounds within our community in accordance with the Scout Association’s policy on diversity.

The Executive Members’ role is that of a Charity Trustee of West Lancashire County Scouts and is responsible for participating in discussions and decisions affecting the current and future direction of West Lancashire Scouts. There are five evening meetings a year: October 3rd, December 5th, March 19th (2020), June 11th, July 9th, plus the AGM on Sept 12th 2019. Attendance at other events as a Trustee, and to undertake other occasional work as a member of ther Executive is optional, but desireable.

This last year we started the new process with the election of two Members for 3 years, two Members for 2 years and 2 Members for just one year. Thus the latter 2 now stand down producing two vacancies to serve for a period of 3 years.

For information, the other members of the County Executive are:
